Sonia G. Vani

Sonia Giannina Vani, B.A., B.Ed, M.A.

is the Communications Administrator for

the Blue Planet Project   and for the Council of Canadians’national water campaign.

Sonia has extensive experience working as an
educator and as a television reporter in the public and private broadcasting sectors. Her fluency in a number of languages has allowed her to work in media relations, events planning and project management both across Canada and internationally.

In addition to actively workingon various independent video productions, Sonia is
involved with developing curricular modules for the Council of Canadians’ water
campaigns and continues to develop workshop presentations geared at encouraging
youth to realize their potential as engaged and critical citizens.

Sonia continues to play an active role in organizing numerous civil society actions such as those which took place in Mexico City (at the Fourth World Water Forum (4WWF) in 2006) and in Nairobi, Kenya (at the World Social Forum in 2007). Sonia is actively helping with the mobilization of global water movements in view of the upcoming 5WWF in 2009 in Istanbul, Turkey.
